Roman Bridge of Córdoba
A bridge of about 331 metres over the Guadalquivir, with 16 arches (originally it had 17), linking the Cathedral district with the Campo de la Verdad. It is usually dated to the time of Augustus, although how much of the present structure is Roman is disputed: there were works in the Andalusi period, in the 8th century, and another in 1927, and only arches 14 and 15, counting from the Puerta del Puente, are considered original. It has been pedestrian-only since 2004 and was restored between 2006 and 2008. At the north end is the Puerta del Puente, a work by Hernán Ruiz II from 1572; at the south end, the Calahorra Tower. In the centre stands the Triumph of San Rafael, from 1651. Downstream is the Albolafia mill, which appears on the city's coat of arms, and the Sotos de la Albolafia, a reserve of just over two hectares with about 120 species of birds. It has been a Site of Cultural Interest since 1931.
