Parish Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation
The Parish Church of Our Lady of the Incarnation is Marbella's principal historic church. The current building, consecrated in 1767, has a basilica plan with three naves, the central one wider than the side aisles. Outside, the four-tier tower stands about 50 metres tall, topped with a pyramidal spire and a weathervane shaped like a cherub representing Faith, along with the main doorway carved in ochre stone in Rococo style. Inside it houses a large Sol Mayor organ with 5,000 pipes of tin, copper and wood, built by organ masters Gabriel Blancafort and Juan Capella between 1972 and 1976. Its origins go back to the sacralisation of the old main mosque after the Reconquest of 1485, and it was canonically established in 1505. The church's exterior was used for filming the Netflix series Warrior Nun in 2020, and in 2017 it hosted the funeral of Pablo Ráez, a much-loved local figure.
