Halle Puget
The Halle Puget is a former covered market of 1672, on rue Halle Puget, in the 1st arrondissement, attributed to Pierre Puget, although the authorship is not documented. It was built to house fishmongers and butchers. It looks like a temple, with twenty Ionic columns. In the 19th century it was walled up and turned into a chapel, and in the early 20th it served as a police station. It was abandoned in the 1980s and restored when it was in danger of collapse. Since 2022 it has housed stalls of eight regional producers selling fruit and vegetables three days a week, as part of the revitalisation plan for the Belsunce district. It is a stone's throw from the Canebière, between Belsunce and the Noailles market, in a small square that bears its name.
