Mohammed VI Museum of Water Civilisation
The Mohammed VI Museum of Water Civilisation in Morocco, known as the Aman Museum, is dedicated to water and the hydraulic techniques of traditional Morocco. It was inaugurated in January 2017 and opened to the public in May of that year. It stands at the northern entrance to Marrakesh, in the Palmeraie area. The architect was Rachid Sqalli Houssaini. The building has three circular halls that open at their centre onto a large animated model of the hydraulic works of the Marrakesh region. The permanent exhibition covers about 2,200 square metres over three levels and runs through ten themes, from the physics and chemistry of water to traditional management, spirituality and future challenges, with authentic objects and manuscripts from across the country. It also has a space for temporary exhibitions and a multipurpose hall seating 350.
