Bajondillo Beach
Bajondillo Beach is a long urban beach of dark sand in the centre of Torremolinos, more than a kilometre long and 40 metres wide. It has a seafront promenade and beach bars where you can try the fishermen's daily catch. Access is on foot from the centre along Calle San Miguel, via the Camino de la Playa with its steps or the Cuesta del Tajo, which is very steep and has many craft and souvenir shops. There are also two lifts, one municipal from Plaza del Panorama and another belonging to the Meliá hotel, costing 50 cents. The beach has a lifeguard service, assisted bathing by prior appointment, and is adapted for people with reduced mobility, with walkways, a shaded area and support equipment such as a hoist, an amphibious chair and amphibious crutches. At one end is El Morro, a natural monument that you can walk on. The surroundings keep an old fishermen's quarter with narrow streets.
