Dom Luís I Bridge
CultureVisit: ~30 min
Two-deck metal bridge linking Porto with Vila Nova de Gaia over the River Douro. It was built between 1881 and 1886 by the Belgian company Willebroeck, to a design by Théophile Seyrig, a disciple of Gustave Eiffel. Its iron arch spans the river at a great height. The lower deck connects with the Ribeira, and the upper deck, high above the water, is crossed by pedestrians and the metro.
