Staircase of 215 steps linking the Lapa district with Santa Teresa, covered in colourful tiles and ceramics. It was created by the Chilean artist Jorge Selarón, who began decorating it around 1990 with pieces from many countries. It is one of the most photographed corners of Rio for its mosaic of reds, greens and yellows.
