Public library opened in 2006 and designed by the architect Alberto Kalach, in the Buenavista neighbourhood. Its great central nave has shelves that seem to float and from which hangs the skeleton of a whale, a work by the artist Gabriel Orozco. It surrounds a botanical garden and is one of the most photographed contemporary spaces in the city.
