A monumental Baroque staircase of 135 steps that links Piazza di Spagna with the church of Trinità dei Monti, at the top of the Pincio hill. It was inaugurated in 1725 to a design by Francesco de Sanctis. In the square at the foot is the Barcaccia fountain, attributed to Pietro Bernini. From the top there is an open view over Via dei Condotti and the rooftops of central Rome.
