Canal of about 4.5 km opened in 1825 that links the La Villette basin with the Seine. It has locks, iron footbridges and stretches covered by underground vaults. On its banks, the quais de Valmy and de Jemmapes fill with people sitting by the water to drink and picnic. It is also known for appearing in the film Amélie.
