Torcal de Antequera

NatureVisit: ~180 minFree

At the Torcal de Antequera, visitors follow waymarked trails through limestone rock formations shaped over millions of years, where erosion has created natural shapes such as the 'tornillo' (screw), the 'sombrerillo' (little hat) and the 'cáliz' (chalice), among others. The Torcal Alto Visitor Centre offers an interpretation area and is the starting point for routes of varying length, such as the Yellow Route and the Green Route, which take in both open panoramas and narrow passages between the rocks. The site is home to sinkholes and caves, such as the Cueva de El Toro, which preserves prehistoric remains and evidence of human occupation since the Neolithic. During the walk you can spot a wide variety of flora adapted to the rock and fauna such as Iberian ibex, griffon vultures and reptiles, in a setting made difficult to cross by its karst terrain.
