CaixaForum Madrid
CaixaForum Madrid is a cultural centre run by the "la Caixa" Foundation, located at Paseo del Prado 36, in the historic centre of Madrid. It occupies the former Central Eléctrica del Mediodía, an early 20th-century industrial building renovated by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, who preserved the original brick façades and added a Corten steel module. In its square stands Spain's first vertical garden, with 15,000 plants, designed by Patrick Blanc. The centre programmes exhibitions of historic, modern and contemporary art, music and poetry festivals, multimedia art, current-affairs debates, and educational and family workshops.
