9/11 Memorial and Museum
Site in Lower Manhattan dedicated to the victims of the attacks of 11 September 2001 and the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center. The memorial, Reflecting Absence by Michael Arad, occupies the footprints of the Twin Towers with two large fountains, surrounded by bronze parapets bearing the names of the victims. The museum, opened in 2014, lies beneath the plaza and tells the story through objects and testimonies. The Survivor Tree grows on the plaza.
