Abbey of the Three Fountains
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Trappist abbey in a valley of the old Via Laurentina, in the EUR district, where according to tradition St Paul was martyred and three springs gushed forth. The Trappists arrived in 1868 and planted eucalyptus trees. It brings together three churches (San Vicente y Anastasio, Santa María Scala Coeli and San Pablo del Martirio), Charlemagne's arch and the grotto of the 1947 apparition. The monks make beer, liqueur and chocolate.
