Shanghai Grand Theatre
The Shanghai Grand Theatre, on the north side of People's Square, opened in 1998 to a design by Jean-Marie Charpentier: a glass box crowned by a roof curving up towards the sky that lights up at night. It has three halls and is the stage for the city's major international tours of musicals, ballet, opera and concerts.
