Georg Kolbe Museum

The museum occupies two cubic brick buildings that Georg Kolbe had built for himself in 1928/29 in the New Objectivity style, linked by a garden with old pine trees. The exhibitions are shown in the former sculptor's studio, where the rails once used to move heavy works can still be seen, while the original furniture is preserved in the former living room, alongside the ticket desk and shop. The sculpture garden displays works in the open air, and the Schaudepot presents changing displays from the collection under the title Sammlung in Bewegung. Each year the museum programmes temporary exhibitions on themes of classical modernism, often with a sculptural focus, as well as contemporary art shows.
