The John Lennon Wall in Prague is a wall located in Velkopřevorské náměstí square, in the Malá Strana district, which since the 1980s has been continuously decorated with graffiti inspired by John Lennon and fragments of Beatles songs. Visitors find a surface covered with peace messages, drawings, poems and artistic expressions relating both to Lennon and to local and global social and political causes. The wall is considered a symbol of freedom of expression and non-violent resistance, as during the Czech communist regime it was a space where young people wrote defiant, protest messages despite the authorities' attempts to erase them. Today, the wall operates as an open-air gallery where visitors may only add to designated areas and with non-permanent materials, preserving its character as a place of collective expression and historical memory.
