Zoological Museum of Strasbourg
The Zoological Museum of Strasbourg occupies a historic University building on the Boulevard de la Victoire, next to the university campus, and reopens on 19 September 2025 after six years of renovation. The new route, spread over three levels with 2,000 m² of exhibits, offers a journey through the diversity of living things, the history of natural sciences and the workings of ecosystems, with reinforced live guiding and multimedia and interactive devices. Among its collections, which total around 1,200,000 specimens, the highlights are 58 glass models of marine organisms made by the Blaschka brothers —a collection unique in France—, papier-mâché models by Dr Louis Auzoux and specimens of rarely observed or extinct species such as the coelacanth, the great auk, the thylacine and the passenger pigeon. The museum completes its offer with temporary exhibitions, cultural programming, educational workshops and a specialised bookshop-boutique.
