Vienna Imperial Treasury

The Vienna Imperial Treasury is located in the oldest part of the Hofburg Palace, entered via the Schweizerhof, and displays a collection of secular and religious objects gathered by the House of Habsburg over the centuries across 21 rooms. Visitors can view the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire, the Austrian Imperial Crown, the orb and sceptre of Austria, as well as the Holy Lance and the Sword of Charlemagne. Among the most singular pieces are large jewels, reliquaries, the agate bowl regarded as the Holy Grail, a narwhal tusk once believed to be a unicorn's horn, and one of the largest emeralds in the world. The collection also includes treasures of the Order of the Golden Fleece, ceremonial vestments, Baroque devotional objects and pieces linked to historical figures such as Maria Theresa, Marie Antoinette and Napoleon II.
