Schiller Theatre
The Schiller Theatre is a theatre building in the Charlottenburg district, at Bismarckstraße 110, near Ernst-Reuter-Platz. Its main hall, with around a thousand seats, was home to the Staatliche Schauspielbühnen Berlin and hosted premieres of works such as Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Peter Weiss's The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat. The building, constructed between 1905 and 1906 to plans by Max Littmann, was rebuilt after the Second World War; the new main foyer was given a large glass wall and the corridor was decorated with sculptures by Bernhard Heiliger. Since its closure as a state theatre in 1993, the venue has been rented out for theatrical performances and other events, and between 2010 and 2017 it served as the temporary home of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden.
