Calle Betis
Calle Betis is a street running parallel to the Guadalquivir river in the Triana neighbourhood, between the Isabel II Bridge and the San Telmo Bridge. It is very popular with visitors for its notable views of the Giralda, the Torre del Oro, the bullring, the Church of the Charity and the Maestranza Theatre. Its historic row of narrow, tall-fronted houses has bars with riverside terraces on their ground floors, giving the street great life. Notable is the Casa de las Columnas (1780), the former University of Mariners, now a civic centre. It also has a tall masonry buttress along the river, built to reduce flooding, and since 2015 a green space and viewpoint with a wooden platform at water level. In July the Velá de Santiago y Santa Ana is held, declared of Tourist Interest of Andalusia.
