Bank of Spain
The main headquarters of the Bank of Spain takes up a whole block facing Plaza de Cibeles, with façades on Calle de Alcalá, Paseo del Prado, Calle de los Madrazo and Calle del Marqués de Cubas. The building, designed by Eduardo Adaro and Severiano Sáinz de la Lastra and opened in 1891, has façades with an eclectic decorative repertoire, with sober plinths and ground floors that convey institutional solidity. It was extended in several phases during the 20th century, and between 2003 and 2006 the block was completed with a project by Rafael Moneo. It has been listed as a Site of Cultural Interest since 1999. Its official website announces temporary exhibitions at the headquarters, such as "El Plano Flexible" and "Alegorías de un porvenir".
