The Museum of the Church of St John of God, a venue of the Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia (MUBAM), occupies a former 18th-century Rococo church, the work of Martín Solera, located in a traditional square in the old town. The building is notable for its unusual elliptical plan, conceived as a great tabernacle, with six radial chapels decorated with trompe-l'oeil architecture by Paolo Sístori and a dome with paintings by Agustín Navarro. It houses an important collection of religious imagery from the 15th to the 19th centuries, with works by artists such as Francisco Salzillo, Diego de Ayala and Pedro de Mena, including the Christ of Health, the oldest carving to process in Murcia's Holy Week. In the basement, archaeological remains of the former Islamic Alcázar Mayor are displayed, such as an oratory with a mihrab and a royal pantheon with nine tombs. The legacy of the sculptor Juan González Moreno is also shown in the choir and ambulatory.
