Sony Center
The Sony Center, known since 2023 as The Center Potsdamer Platz, is a complex of eight buildings designed by Helmut Jahn and opened in 2000 on Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. Its most recognisable feature is the 4,000 m² domed roof covering the central forum, built from steel, glass and translucent fabric by Waagner-Biro. The complex houses a mix of shops, restaurants, a conference centre, hotel rooms, around 67 flats, offices and a Legoland Discovery Centre. During major sporting events such as the 2006 World Cup, a large television screen was set up in the indoor space so that seated crowds could watch the matches. The complex stands next to Potsdamer Platz station and close to the Mall of Berlin. Until 2019 it housed a CineStar cinema and an IMAX theatre, and until November 2024 it was home to the Museum of Film and Television, which relocated to the E-Werk complex in 2025.
