Giant Ferris wheel in the Prater amusement park, opened in 1897 for the jubilee of Emperor Franz Joseph and the work of the engineer Walter Basil Bassett. It is about 65 metres tall and is one of the symbols of Vienna, immortalised in the 1949 film The Third Man. Its wooden cabins offer views of the centre and the Danube.
