Pete's Tavern is a historic bar and restaurant in the Gramercy Park neighbourhood of Manhattan. It occupies a building constructed in 1829 that was originally the Portman Hotel. It is considered New York's oldest continuously operating bar and restaurant. During Prohibition, it operated disguised as a flower shop. The writer O. Henry lived nearby and mentioned the establishment in one of his stories. The venue has appeared in numerous films and television shows. Today it serves pub food, with a menu including starters, salads, burgers, sandwiches, pasta and main courses. It is open every day from midday to 2am, with kitchen service until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. It offers happy hour Monday to Friday from 4 to 6pm.
