The Umeda Sky Building is a twin-tower, 40-storey skyscraper whose top floors are linked by glass bridges with escalators and lifts crossing an open atrium. On the roof is the Kuchu Teien Observatory, also known as the Floating Garden Observatory, a two-level observation deck that includes Café Sky 40 and the Fence of Vows. At the base of the towers is an underground market that recreates the atmosphere of early-20th-century Osaka, as well as the Island Garden and Vegetable Garden, with paths and fountains. The building was designed by Hiroshi Hara and completed in 1993.
