Monument of 1644 erected by Władysław IV in honour of his father, King Sigismund III Vasa, who moved the capital from Kraków to Warsaw. It is a column topped by the bronze statue of the king with a cross and a sabre. It was toppled in 1944 and rebuilt in 1949. It is the most recognisable symbol of the city and a meeting point on Castle Square.
