Plac Zamkowy, the gateway to Warsaw's Old Town. It is dominated by the Royal Castle and in its centre rises Sigismund's Column. It was rebuilt along with the rest of the historic centre after the destruction of 1944. From here the Royal Route and the streets to the Old Town Market Square begin.
