The Gallery of Palaeontology and Comparative Anatomy, in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, houses on its ground floor a collection of around a thousand skeletons and anatomical specimens illustrating the organisation and classification of living beings. On the upper floors, visitors find fossils of vertebrates and invertebrates, including dinosaur skeletons such as Diplodocus, Iguanodon and Allosaurus, as well as authentic remains of extinct animals such as woolly mammoths and giant ground sloths. The building is notable for its nearly 80-metre-long nave, large windows that flood the rooms with natural light, and architectural details such as naturalistic sculptures and decorated wrought-iron railings.
