Tokyo National Museum
The Tokyo National Museum, in Ueno Park, is Japan's oldest and largest museum. Its collection exceeds 110,000 objects, including 87 National Treasures and 610 Important Cultural Properties. The complex comprises several buildings: the Honkan Gallery (24 rooms tracing Japanese art chronologically from the Jomon period to the 19th century), the Toyokan Gallery (ten rooms with art and archaeology from China, Korea, India, South-East Asia and Egypt), the Hyokeikan (open only on special occasions), the Heiseikan (with the Japanese Archaeology Gallery and temporary exhibitions), the Hōryū-ji Treasure Gallery (with 319 objects donated by Hōryū-ji temple) and the Research and Information Centre. There are also restaurants, two shops, a garden and outdoor exhibits. Information is available in several languages, including Spanish.
