Hallgrímskirkja
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Lutheran church that dominates the Reykjavik skyline at 74.5 metres tall. It was designed by the architect Guðjón Samúelsson, inspired by Iceland's basalt columns, and its construction dragged on from 1945 to 1986. In front stands the statue of Leifur Eiríksson, a gift from the United States in 1930. A lift goes up the tower, from where you can see the whole city, the sea and the mountains.
