Monastery of Augustinian canons founded in 1131, in the Baixa of Coimbra, facing Praça 8 de Maio. It was one of the cultural centres of medieval Portugal and its church holds the tombs of Afonso Henriques and Sancho I, the country's first two kings. The building was remodelled in the 16th century in the Manueline style, with work by Diogo de Boitaca and Nicolau Chanterene.
