Bronze statue of the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus on Krakowskie Przedmieście, in front of the Staszic Palace, seat of the Polish Academy of Sciences. It is the work of the Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen and was unveiled in 1830. It is one of the best-known monuments on the Royal Route, with the astronomer holding a compass and a model of the solar system.
