One of the great shopping streets of Athens, pedestrianised for much of its route between Syntagma Square and the Monastiraki and Thiseio area. Halfway along stands the Byzantine church of Kapnikarea, from the 11th-12th centuries, surrounded by shops. It combines retail with neoclassical buildings and lets you see the Acropolis in the background at the same time.
