Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA)
MACBA opened on 28 November 1995 in the heart of the Raval neighbourhood, on Plaça dels Àngels. The white building is the work of the American architect Richard Meier, built between 1991 and 1995, and plays with natural light, skylights and reflective surfaces. A large ramp links the galleries with the square outside and blurs the boundary between the museum and the historic surroundings, where the former Àngels convent is preserved. The collection exceeds 5,500 works created since the late 1950s and includes a deposit of about 800 pieces by the Art & Language collective, the largest in the world. Besides being an exhibition space, it is a research centre, with a library of about 64,000 documents. General admission allows you to return for one month. You can get there by metro on lines L1, L2 and L3.
