Greek Catholic Co-Cathedral of Saints Cyril and Methodius
Co-cathedral of the Greek Catholic Eparchy of Križevci, on Saints Cyril and Methodius Street, in the Upper Town and very close to St Mark's Square. On the same site there had been, since the 17th century, a church with a seminary for the faithful of the Žumberak mountains, Uskoks and local clergy, dedicated to St Basil the Great. The present church was built in 1886, during the episcopate of Ilija Hranilović, to a design by Hermann Bollé in the Neo-Byzantine style within historicism. Its bell tower has three bells, dedicated to Cyril and Methodius, to the Mother of God and to St Basil the Great. Inside is a collection of paintings by Ivan Tišov, as well as icons by E. A. Bučevski and Professor Nikola Mašić. The church also serves as the Croatian Byzantine-rite parish.
