Namihaya Dome
Namihaya Dome, also known as Towa Pharmaceutical Ractab Dome, is a covered sports arena in the city of Kadoma, Osaka Prefecture. Completed in 1996 and designed by architect Mamoru Kawaguchi, it is built mainly of reinforced concrete and aluminium structures, covering an area of around 25,000 m². Inside it has a main competition arena, a separate swimming pool, a training room, a multipurpose room, conference rooms and the Namihaya Restaurant. The main arena has 6,000 fixed seats and a potential capacity of 10,000, and includes a large screen and an electronic scoreboard. The arena's use changes with the seasons: in summer a 50 m by 25.5 m pool with a movable floor is installed, along with a 25 m by 25 m diving pool with three platforms and five springboards; in winter it becomes ice rinks, with a main rink of 60 m by 30 m and a secondary one of 18 m by 30 m; in autumn and spring it is converted into a gymnasium for sports competitions, exhibitions and conferences. The venue has hosted international sporting events such as the final of the 2005 NHK Trophy figure skating competition, matches of the 2003 Women's Volleyball World Cup and Davis Cup tennis ties, as well as several editions of the Japan Figure Skating Championships.
