Hanazono Stadium, in Higashiosaka (Osaka), is the oldest stadium in Japan built specifically for rugby, opened in 1929 and owned by the city. It stands next to Hanazono Central Park and has a capacity of around 27,000 spectators. Every year, at the end of December, it hosts the National High School Rugby Tournament, and it is the home ground of the Kintetsu Liners and FC Osaka. It was one of the venues for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, and in 2006 Daisuke Ohata set the world record for tries in test matches there. The stadium underwent a large-scale renovation between 2017 and 2018.
