A cloistered Cistercian monastery in the San Lorenzo neighbourhood, with its entrance on Calle Reposo. It was founded in 1248, shortly after the Christian conquest of Seville, under Ferdinand III the Saint, on 23 November, the feast of Saint Clement, and was built over an Andalusian palace. For centuries it was the pantheon of members of the royal family and prominent figures of the city. The complex brings together buildings from different periods, from the 16th and 17th centuries, following an extension in the late 16th century to house more nuns. The church has a single nave, with a Baroque altarpiece by Felipe and Gaspar de Ribas dedicated to Saint Clement, Saint Bernard and Saint Benedict, a Mudéjar wooden ceiling and 18th-century mural paintings by Francisco Miguel Jiménez with Cistercian saints. There are works by Valdés Leal on the walls. The main 17th-century cloister has paired columns and a fountain. The nuns make sweets and jams that are sold at the entrance turntable.
