Rumeli Hisarı
CultureVisit: ~75 min
An Ottoman fortress built by Mehmed II in 1452, in just a few months, to control the narrowest point of the Bosphorus before the conquest of Constantinople. It stands on the European shore, opposite Anadolu Hisarı, and its three great towers and the wall running down to the water stand out. From its wall-walks there are good views of the strait and of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.
