An Ottoman palace built between 1843 and 1856 on the orders of Sultan Abdülmecid I, the work of the architects Garabet and Nigoğos Balyan. It stands on the European shore of the Bosphorus, in Beşiktaş, and blends European Baroque and Neoclassical styles with the Ottoman layout. Its highlight is the Ceremonial Hall, with a great crystal chandelier, and it was the residence where Atatürk died in 1938.
