Coricancha
CultureVisit: ~60 min
Coricancha, the Temple of the Sun, was the main sanctuary of the Inca Empire. Its finely fitted andesite walls served as the base of the Convent of Santo Domingo, built by the Spanish in the 16th century. After the 1950 earthquake the Inca walls were left exposed, among them the curved outer wall. It stands at the intersection of Avenida El Sol and Calle Santo Domingo.
