Musée Subaquatique de Marseille
The underwater museum is opposite the plage des Catalans, in the 7th arrondissement. It consists of ten sculptures submerged at a depth of about five metres and about a hundred metres from the shore, forming an underwater trail. The project was driven by Antony Lacanaud from 2017, with the support of the city and the Sud Region, and opened in 2020. You must be able to swim a hundred metres out and a hundred back, and bring a mask, snorkel and fins: without a mask you can't see anything. You may not touch the sculptures or the marine life growing on them, and animals are not allowed. It is not wheelchair accessible. Groups of ten or more people must book, and equipment can be hired from operators such as Le Bateau Jaune.
