Gold Museum
Museum of the Banco de la República next to Parque de Santander, in the centre of Bogotá. It holds one of the largest collections of pre-Hispanic goldwork in the world, with tens of thousands of gold pieces from cultures such as the Quimbaya, Muisca, Tairona and Calima. Highlights include the Quimbaya Poporo and the Muisca Raft, linked to the legend of El Dorado, and the offerings room, where a great quantity of gold objects can be seen under a light that reproduces the effect of a treasure.
