Bethesda Terrace and Fountain
CultureVisit: ~30 min
Monumental terrace in the heart of Central Park, designed by Calvert Vaux and Jacob Wrey Mould and opened in the 1860s. It links the tree-lined Mall with the lake by way of staircases and a vaulted, tiled arcade. In the centre rises the fountain with the statue Angel of the Waters, by Emma Stebbins, from 1873, which gives the place its name and is one of the most photographed corners of the park.
