At the Sainte-Chapelle, visitors walk through two stacked chapels: the lower one, dedicated to the Virgin and decorated with polychrome columns, and the upper one, originally reserved for the royal court, where tall windows stand out, almost entirely replacing the walls and filtering light through 13th-century stained glass. The upper chapel's stained glass depicts biblical scenes such as Genesis, Exodus, the Passion and the history of the relics, dominated by blue, red and yellow, creating a bright, colourful atmosphere. This space, conceived as a monumental reliquary, once housed relics acquired by King Louis IX, including the Crown of Thorns, and visitors can see Gothic architectural details such as the nine-metre-diameter rose window depicting the Apocalypse.
