Église Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre

The Église Saint-Julien-le-Pauvre is one of the oldest churches in Paris, begun in the Romanesque style in the 12th century with early Gothic elements. It was built on the site of an earlier chapel dating back to before the 6th century and has witnessed the city's history, from its links with the University of Paris to its transfer to the Melkite Greek Catholic community in 1889. Inside, visitors can see a carved wooden iconostasis from 1890, capitals decorated with water lilies and harpies, and ribbed vaults. It is located in the 5th arrondissement, near the Musée de Cluny and the Square René Viviani, home to the oldest tree in Paris.
