Museum of Decorative Arts, Paris
A museum in the Pavillon de Marsan, in the wing of the Louvre palace facing the rue de Rivoli, in the 1st arrondissement. It was founded in 1905 by the Central Union of Decorative Arts and reopened in 2006 after a major renovation that cost 35 million euros. It brings together objects from the Middle Ages to today: furniture, ceramics, glass, wallpapers and textiles, such as Aubusson tapestries and Sèvres porcelain. It has important holdings of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, with names such as René Lalique, Émile Gallé, Eileen Gray and Charlotte Perriand. Among the highlights are period rooms, such as part of Jeanne Lanvin's house decorated around 1920.
