A neoclassical palace designed by Theophil Hansen and opened in 1888, funded by the benefactor Evangelos Zappas. It stands in the National Garden, next to the Panathenaic Stadium. It was used for fencing at the 1896 Games and in 1979 Greece's accession treaty to the European Economic Community was signed there. Its circular courtyard with columns is the most striking feature.
